GREAT NEWS!!! WE’RE MAKING THINGS HAPPEN ACCROSS THE NORTH OF ENGLAND WITH OUR NEW YOUTH MUSIC UK FUNDED TRAILBLAZER PROJECT ‘WAVE GENERATOR’ .

IN THIS EXPERIMENTAL PROJECT WE’LL DEVELOP OUR TOURING POTENTIAL, WORKING WITH PARTNERS IN LEEDS AND BRADFORD, DONCASTER AND DERBYSHIRE. WE’LL BE MAKING NEW EARLY YEARS EXPERIMENTS WITH ‘YORKSHIRE CONTEMPORARY’, WORKING WITH SEND SCHOOLS IN COLLABORATION WITH ‘DARTS’ IN DONCASTER AND HOOKING UP WITH OLD PALS ‘LEVEL CENTRE’ IN MATLOCK.

We’re back after a nice spring break with an ope

We’re back after a nice spring break with an open day at the Playspace in Glasgow on Saturday 26th April. We’re sharing the work in progress of our three artists in residence who have been experimenting and playing with new ideas, blending their own ways of working with some of the Soundplay equipment and ideas.

As usual we will have the ambient Arcade and sub bass soft space up and running as well as some live music throughout the afternoon. We’ve also made a new projection space that we’ll be trying some stuff out in. Max will be on hand to share his new play-sculpture and Aby will be performing her new piece ‘Besides/With’ using two specially designed ‘transmitting and receiving’ platforms. Jamie has created two new immersive projection pieces for people to interact and play with.

A nice Monday morning post to share our funding success! We have been awarded funding from Creative Scotlands Youth Music Initiative to deliver immersive music sessions with partners Paisley Arts Centre and Dundee Contemporary Arts. Really excited to get started with this work in May!

Soundplay Projects SCIO are seeking individuals to

Soundplay Projects SCIO are seeking individuals to join our Voluntary Board of Trustees, to take the organisation forward at an exciting time of change for the charity.

Soundplay Projects Are a unique arts charity, creating accessible and inclusive session, workshops and events across Scotland and beyond. Based in glasgow We use art, music and technology to provide unique creative opportunities with and for young people of all abilities.

To this end, we make installations and instruments that are designed with and for the young people we work with. We deliver workshops in schools, arts centres, galleries and at our base in Glasgow city centre, The Playspace.

Soundplay Projects have recently been awarded Multi Year Funding from Creative Scotland which means a transition away from project based working to a more sustainable approach.

The role of our Board of Trustees is to support our work and ensure strategic oversight of our events and other activities. Whilst you don’t need to have previous board level experience, participation in other types of collective/voluntary group work and working as a team would be beneficial; and you do need to have a passion for music, art and accessibility. Soundplay Projects can support and provide training if you are new to being a board member.

As a Soundplay Trustee, you will have the opportunity to make an impact on the lives of some of the most marginalised young people in Scotland, allowing their creative voices to be heard.

Trustees are appointed for a period of 2 years, which can be extended for up to two additional periods. Trustees are required to attend four Board meetings a year, plus the AGM in December; meetings will be a mix of online and in-person in glasgow city center.

We are particularly keen to hear from candidates with experience of the following: Finance and fundraising; Marketing; Legal and contractual; Human Resources; Sustainability & Net Zero. Alongside these key skills we are also inviting expressions of interest for the roles of Chair and Treasurer.

WE ARE DELIGHTED TO BE STARTING A NEW 10 MONTH BLOCK OF ASN FOCUSED SESSIONS AT PAISLEY ARTS CENTRE. THESE WORKSHOPS ARE FOCUSED ON ONE OR TWO FAMILIES PER SESSIONS. THEY SUPPORT YOUNG DISABLED PEOPLE TO EXPRESS THEIR CREATIVITY THROUGH OPEN PLAY AND IMMERSIVE MUSIC MAKING. EACH SESSION IS TAILORED TO THE NEEDS AND INTERESTS OF THOSE ATTENDING, MAKING USE OF OUR UNIQUE INSTRUMENTS, INSTALLATIONS AND SOUND SCULPTURES.

THE SESSIONS ARE FREE AND WILL RUN MONTHLY FOR 10 MONTHS. WE ARE AIMING TO BUILD A COHORT OF YOUNG PEOPLE WHO WILL TAKE PART REGULARLY. IF IT’S YOUR FIRST TIME OR YOU’RE NOT SURE YOU CAN SIGN UP TO TRY IT OUT OR GET IN TOUCH FOR MORE INFORMATION.

THE SESSIONS ARE LED USING IMPROVISATION, EXPERIMENTATION AND COLLABORATION TO EXPLORE COMMUNICATION, PLAY AND INDIVIDUAL DEVELOPMENT. IT’S GREAT FUN, REWARDING AND CAN BE A BRILLIANT WAY FOR YOUNG PEOPLE TO ACCESS AND MAKE MUSIC. WE UNDERSTAND THAT FAMILIES MAY NEED TO COME TOGETHER. WE WELCOME SIBLINGS AND CAREGIVERS TO JOIN IN WITH THE SESSIONS WHERE APPROPRIATE.

Relax with ‘Om Machine’

We are back in Aberdeen at the end of the month br

We are back in Aberdeen at the end of the month bringing the Ambient Arcade back to the big sky studio. We have two free public drop in sessions on the 29th March from 13.00-14.00 and 14.30-15.30.

Our quieter morning sessions are sold out but we are planning a free ASN drop in on Friday the 28th - from 15.30 - 17.00, please send us a message if this is of interest - it will be limited to 10 families.

This is the end of our current run of funded work in Aberdeen and we are doing some research into how to keep things going in the North East, get in touch if you want to be involved in that conversation or have any ideas of how we can maintain a sustainable presence in the city.

We’ll be popping up for events at ‘Light the Blue’ Festival and at Aberdeen Art Gallery later in the year. As always get in touch if you have any access requirements or questions about our work.
